Deep Tissue Massage

Man_massageDeep Tissue Massage is a variation of Swedish Massage. If your health allows Deep Tissue Massage and you request it, your licensed massage therapist uses deeper pressure and slower gliding gliding motions with each massage stroke. Deep Tissue Massage is great when you want the following:

  • massage that accesses and affect deeper muscles and other structures
  • massage that accesses superficial (skin and just below the skin) structures at a more intense level than possible with pure Swedish Massage

Effective Deep Tissue massage requires great skill, precise anatomical knowledge, and significant experience to avoid damaging tissues and causing pain. Many people think Deep Tissue massage must be painful and uncomfortable. But that doesn’t have to be the case. An experienced, skillful, licensed massage therapist works slowly, allowing the necessary time for tissues to soften and for the body to become accustomed to the pressure used in Deep Tissue Massage.

Judy’s practice at Orthopedic Massage Associates focuses on her medically challenged, hospice, and wellness clients. As a result, she seldom has the time required to provide true Deep Tissue Massage services. Instead, she recommends the following excellent, licensed massage therapists for her clients who want to experience Deep Tissue Massage:
